Maps Lead fields to Account & Contact Standard Fields on Lead Conversion

Overview

It can be frustrating that there are no direct mappings from Lead fields to Account/Contact Standard fields on Lead Conversion. This simple app maps Lead Source to Account Source and Lead Birthdate and Department to Contact standard fields.

  • LEAD SECURITY - to automatically map the Birthdate and Department fields on the Lead object to the relevant standard fields on Contact object, make sure that users have at least READ permission to the new Birthdate and Department fields on Lead object.

  • ACCOUNT & CONTACT SECURITY - we honour profile permissions & permission sets on lead conversion to standard fields, so to allow users to UPDATE Birthdate & Department on the Contact object you must ensure that the user converting the Lead has permission.

  • DATA PRESERVATION - when converting a lead to an existing Account and Contact, if the target field (Account Source, Contact Birthdate/Department) is already populated, the app will NOT overwrite this.

If the Account Source is already set for an existing account, we don't touch it! Otherwise, this app provides a simple way to map Lead Source to Account Source when a lead is converted. Use profile permissions or a permission set to ensure that that users have the following permissions * READ the Lead object * READ the Lead Source, Birthdate & Department (custom) fields on Lead * UPDATE the Account object * UPDATE the Account Source field on Account * UPDATE the Contact object * UPDATE the Birthdate and Department (standard) fields on Contact Unlike the standard lead conversion, to comply with app security architecture, the user must have permissions to read and update fields as above - otherwise the app will not update the field.
