DMD stands for Document Mess Detector and is a native AppExchange app which checks Files and Attachments in your Salesforce Org against predefined Rules. DMD ends its name and concept from PMD, the Program Mess Detector, one of the world's best Open Source Code Analyser. For decades Developers in and outside Salesforce have checked their code for consistency and issues using Code Analysers. Porting this concept into the Business world was hard, as Natural Language documents such as contracts, specifications, and slide decks are much harder to work with. Generative AI like OpenAI to the rescue. Large Language models can read, understand, and reason about their content based on User Prompts. DMD is leveraging that. Rule Authors codify document requirements into Rules written in short natural language and group them in document or context-specific rulesets. Document authors check their documents against those rulesets and get immediate feedback on whether their text complies with the rules or if there are issues. As AI is not 100% reliable, it also provides a short Justification per Rule so that the Human author can easily check the correctness.
