Salesforce to Salesforce does not seems to work.

I tried connecting to dev salesforce orgs as source and target and created a mapping for account object. Started the process, now what ? I created a new account record in source org, but nothing gets generated in target org. what is it suppose to do ? How can I migrate the existing data ? Is there any way I can transfer chatter data and attachment between one salesforce to another salesforce org ?

Hi Kapil, The free Cast Iron Data Loader offering supports only "Update" and "Delete" events on the salesforce objects to trigger the integration flow between Salesforce orgs. Creating a new object does not count as either of the events and so it will not trigger the integration. However it is fairly easy to migrate the existing data. While the integration is running, you can modify one of the fields of the account objects that you want to integrate. This will be registered as an "Update" event and trigger the migration of these objects from one Salesforce org to another. For bulk data synchronization you could create a process in Salesforce to select and mass update the accounts that you want synchronized with the target Salesforce organization. I would recommend though that you try our full featured paid offerings mentioned below. They provide advanced bulk data synchronization capabilities between multiple Salesforce organizations. You can synchronize chatter activity data using the Free Data Loader offering, but to synchronize Chatter data objects you have to create an orchestration. That capability is available on our full featured paid offerings, i.e., Cast Iron Live, Hypervisor Edition (Virtual Appliance) and Physical Appliance. On these offerings we provide out of the box support for Chatter objects via template integration projects (TIPs), which can quickly get you started with your integration use case. Able to quick integrate SFDC with other systems.

Cast Iron user have more choice to do the integration with SFDC now.

Very poor setup process

It takes lots of steps to set-up and get running. They lack a road map for this app that should layout the steps. I happened to have a dropbox account and wanted to use CI to integrate with SF. Here are the steps that I followed and where I failed. 1) I clicked the green Get It Now button. 2) I logged into the appExchange using my SF login. 3) I then went off to the CI website. 4) I then went through the process of creating a login on the CI site. They said it would be easy. This is where they should have had a little roadmap. 5) Next I wanted to create an integration between my dropbox and SF. So I clicked in the Create Button. They had a nice sidebar with a source(I chose dropbox) and a target(I chose SF). Then I clicked create blank integration button. 6) I then defined the source. granted permission to my dropbox account, selected a file. Not sure I did it right because it failed at the next step 7) I then tried to define the target(SF). I filled out the form with my credentials for SF but it also wants an optional Security Token that clearly is not optional. I made something up and it complained about my security token. Error message was of no value. No explanation about where to get this optional security token. The marketing materials were not very good either. I still do not understand their value proposition. They hooked me on the dropbox to SF integration which should have been pretty simple stuff. It would be a good hook to selling their other higher value stuff whatever that is. I am giving up now.

My complaint is really about presentation. Let me make two points. One) You have a call-out right above the "Security Token" field. I have since found the Security Token in my SF menus. All you needed was a little message in the call-out that said. "You can find the Security Token in your Salesforce personal settings tab". The error message could have also been a look more helpful as well. Two) Dropbox is a cloud file directory. I made the mistake of thinking that your product was about connecting files to my Salesforce account. I am now assuming that your product is about importing structured data into my Salesforce account. I am still not sure if that is the proper interpretation. Anyway, if your product is about structured data import then it should say so. The oblivious next question would be "what types of structured data?". CSV, Excel, XML, DB's. etc. Your marketing does not mention any of this. You may have the greatest product in the world but it is not easy to see. You clearly need some help from your marketing department. Sam

Hi Sam, It's unfortunate that you had to go through this experience. The Security Token is required if you are not using IP Address Range restrictions. We have no way of giving IP Address range for our Cloud offering, as it is dynamic and hence it is assumed that security token is mandatory for a particular Salesforce Organization. I have seen some developer accounts which may have been grandfathered into not requiring a security token. However it is fairly easy to overcome the requirement for the security token field by splitting up the password between the password and the security token field. So for example you can type the password except for the last character, in the password field and then type the last character in the security token field. Not able to connect to any of the production sandboxes

Tried CI but was not able to connect to a production sandbox. It kept saying "invalid login/password or user locked out" even if I provided the correct login/password information. Also, even if the login IP range is opened for all IP addresses, CI would not connect without providing security key. It seems like it always try to connect to login.salesforce.com and has no knowledge of test.salesforce.com. I hope IBM/CI team fixes this issue as soon as possible to enhance the user experience.

Hi Arun, The Free Cast Iron Data Loader offering does not support sandbox instance as it has a different URL. To connect to Salesforce Sandbox instance please try our other offerings, Cast Iron Live, Cast Iron HVE or Cast Iron Physical appliance. Hard to scale but useful

Nice demo on the application. The initial evaluation helped us but we found it was easy to use but didn't quite have the data matching and availability we needed. Support was not good ... but we just used the demo version. Required quite a bit of ramp up time. Ended up going with another vendor for pricing reason. Hu Chief Architect

Quickly able to integrate with salesforce.com and others

With Cast Iron we were able to integrate an internal support process with salesforce.com very quickly. In an hour we were able to proof of concept and deliver a functioning example and within days we had a functioning integration of multiple databases, email, and salesforce.com. Cast Iron has linked multiple internal and external databases and workflow with a flowchart like process that was easy to work through and review with other business units.
