I would LOVE to try this, but it's broken! :-(
The certificate for this is expired. I am not sure if Model Metrics is maintaining this anymore since they were acquired by Salesforce. I really need something like this but it's not functional. Here's a link to the issue that's going on: goo.gl/5L6orH
No longer works
I used this app several years ago and it worked great. However, I've recently tried to use it for another client and it no longer works. I also attempted to reach out to Model Metrics regarding this issue. After no responses, it appears that MM *may* have been acquired by Salesforce.com. I will be creating another case with Salesforce to investigate a little more. It would be great to hear about other options.
App broken, don't use

Not displaying any information anymore
I have used this tool many times over the past years. At the moment the page is not displaying anymore; the URL https://cloudconverter.modelmetrics.com/mmimport/home.action?s={!$Api.Session_ID}&u={!$Api.Partner_Server_URL_150} isn't working anymore. Does someone have the right URL since Salesforce acquired Model Metrics?
Just installed it and nothing comes up on the Cloud Converter tab. JS console on Chrome gives me "net::ERR_INSECURE_RESPONSE" and sometimes "503 Service Unavailable: Back-end server is at capacity". Laura mention EasyDescribe from Etherios, but we have about 800 objects in or our and that seems to break EasyDescribe. Only option left to try is Object Metadata Snapshot Tool @ https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N30000003Ih3aEAC

This is a sad turn of events. I loved this app.

Nope as far as I can see. Only exports of available fields is possible.

Will EasyDescribe import and create new custom fields as CloudConverter purports to do?

I have had a case with Salesforce. There will be no support for CloudConverter in the future and therefore I am using the EasyDescribe solution at different clients.

I see the same blank tab -- has anyone found a solution for importing and creating custom fields?
Good news.. I've been looking into alternative options and I just found this app, which is (in my opinion) even better than CloudConverter - It's called EasyDescribe by Etherios: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N300000018leZEAQ The only thing that is does not include is the field info for page layouts/records types detail. On a positive note, it includes the calculated formula for formula fields, all the objects child relationships and many many more. You also have the ability to export it all to excel and it includes the help text info for all the fields (as did CloudConverter). Check it out!!

This is such a shame! It was a great tool!

I have spoken with Salesforce support since I found all kind of postings that Salesforce has taken over ModelMetrics. Salesforce support told me that CloudConverter will not be updated anymore since it will be part of the Analytics Cloud in the future. Of course 'safe harbor'...so alternatives need to be found on the AppExchange.
Tool does not extract all fields when there are fields with duplicate field labels
If you have two fields, both labeled "Description" (with different API names), the app seems confused and extracts only one of the fields. This became a showstopper for us and we had to switch to another app. Other than that, this tool did what we needed it to do.

Hi Jo. Which app did you switch to, if you don't mind me asking?
Easy to use
Pretty straight forward app and was easy to use. It certainly has helped in our task! Thanks again
Great for large integrations
I've used this tool several times in several different orgs as far back as 2009. There are a few quirks in the tool itself, but once you understand them, creating objects and fields on a mass level is very quick. I wish is wasn't listed as private on the appexchange, many people would find this tool useful.
Amazingly helpful
We're in the process of deploying some significant customizations. This app made it possible for me to compare the fields in various sandboxes to ensure that all fields were present where needed. I would've spent hours, probably days, comparing fields manually. The process for identifying the objects I needed to look at was easy to figure out, and exporting the meta data happened quickly. One suggestion: It would be very helpful if it also showed if a field was a formula field and then the contents of the formula. But this not being there is not a huge deal.
Powerful tool
I installed this app to find all of the record type IDs for a custom object and found that it does much more than that. It is a very useful tool for exploring your metadata as well as other administrative tasks.
Current Browser support?`
suddenly Cloud Converter doesn't work in IE9 and not even in Firefox 22. Is there any Update or new Version of Cloud Converter available somewhere? As long as it worked it was a big help in day to day work
Very sad that it no longer works... Now I have to document my entire SF instance manually. Boo!
