Expose Article Summary field on Article detail page.
I have configured the KB to my application. I want to expose Article Summary field on Article detail page. In case of custom field, it can be exposed but not the standard fields. Please guide
Table border
I agree this is a great app for starting Knowledge base. I am just really happy during creating design for the articles. Is there any way how to create a table with invisible border? Table properties set to zero, but is not working and even if you define style directly in source code, the changes are not saved. Have you met similar issue? Thanks
Doesnt Work
Error: The PKB Site Setup is not configured correctly. Please verify that the category group name is correct and that the group is active. Either the instructions are faulty or the product doesnt work.
Problems
This does not seem to work, I get the error message :- Error: The PKB Site Setup is not configured correctly. Please verify that the category group name is correct and that the group is active. The only solution I can find is to overwrite the existing code and hard code the name of the site into the code. This then throws up some other errors related to language. So far I have not managed to get this to work!!

in the meanwhile also the topic 1 is corrected. Indeed the general Knowledge supported languages need to be in line with the PKB2 language setup.

Thanks for getting back to me Francois. On the second topic, I found the error. As usual this was on my side :-) As I did not find on the site profile any mention of the default category visibility settings, I assumed that the default category visibility of the standard menu was used. After some trial and error, I noticed that the advanced profile management does not display this related list, where the original profile management does. So now I updated the correct default category visibility settings and things are working like a charm. About 1, i have the option checked. I then get the country selection box. When I however want to see the article detail, I just loop back to the result list page. I am now checking what it would take to tweak the application to take a User.Id parameter as input and "fake" the category filters to apply. this then would make the standard PKB2 settings on category dynamic based on the user details.
Hi Guy, About 1, you need in PKB2 check the option that mention you are in Multi-lingual KB. About 2, Usually, it's because in Public Access Settings, you did not provide access to Data Category Visibility (you need to disable Enhanced Profile UI to have access to this option) About High Volume Customer Portal, the package has been build to work in unauthenticated fashion. I suspect that it will work but I cannot garantee it. About visibility, you are correct, since this type of user do not have role we are using default visibility. Note that we are working in coming releases to allow to set data category visibility for High volume portal user (safe arbor).

when testing the application in admin view, things work nicely. I am however trying to use it via a high volume portal user license. I made all data categories visible by default. I know I do not have roles to work with. Is the application not catered for this type of profile?

I am testing PKB2 at the moment. Some flaws that I notice: 1. If I enable multi-linguality, the article detail link does not function any more. without multi-linguality, this works fine 2. If in the PKB2 setup I enter a category group (case sensitive, ...) and a root caterogy (All), no articles are visualized any more. if i do not fill any caterogy group or root category, all my non grouped articles show nicely. Are these known defects? Thx Guy

Is this version2 or is there a different link to version 2 of this app?

I created a support case but in the meantime I found out that the problem was that I had used the word knowledge in the URL for my site!! I have loaded the Version 2 and it is much better. Thanks

Roy, the problem you are facing is because you have either not added Data Categories to your salesforce org, or there is a mismatch between your Data Category name and the name you are specifying here, on Site Setup custom object. Make sure you have created a data category hierarchy first, and then make sure the "Category Group" and "Root Category", to be specified on "Site Setup" custom object, exactly match these values. You will need prior knowledge on force.com sites, and Salesforce Knowledge, to be able to use this package and get the most benefit out of it. I just tried it and it works quite well. We need to be careful and prudent about following all steps exactly as mentioned in the guide, which is given with this package.
Hi Roy, First, I just release a new Public Knowledge Base package mamed PKB2 that you can access here: http://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N300000059QxXEAU This package has been redesign with the lesson that we learn from this version and we also add more features. Back to your comment, this package has been deployed multiple time and I'm pretty confident that it is working well. I know that they configuration can be tricky sometimes and I suspect that this is the problem here. Will you be able to enter a salesforce support case to have it solved? Of course, also, you can decide to switch to PKB2 if you prefer. Regards,
Great resource for creating a public a KB.
Very good introduction and overview to the Salesforce Knowledge. It introduces a PKB object to your org which is easily configured. You will need to have a basic understanding around " Sites | Article Types | Data Categories" also. One thing to note however, if you follow the pdf instructions verbatim, you may end up not being able to see the actual articles (everything else working). The reason for this is that you have to go and modify the Sites Public Access Settings | FLS for the custom field that matches your article type and click "visible". This was a proverbial needle in a haystack and I hope this comment saves some other poor soul hours of head scratching (or the authors update the pdf instructions) - whichever comes first.

"Sites Public Access Settings | FLS for the custom field that matches your article type and click "visible" I've been stuck at this part for the better part of the last 2 hours. Has this changed with the enhanced user interface?
Great.
This app is a great start for anyone starting to use Salesforce Knowledge....
Hi, This package is now obsolete. You should use Public Knowledge Base 2. It contains much more features.
