I've installed the app Chatter Smart Follow. I want to use the "Follow Manager Hierarchy" - Pressed the Update Button and also applied the Chatter rules to existing users. Nothing happened ! Does anyony know why ?

Apex Class Failure caused rolling errors

I was able to install the app and get it to working fine, but when I tried to deploy a completely unrelated Apex Class I received the following error "System.Exception: Assertion Failed Class.chatterFollowBatchCaller.testchatterFollowBatchCaller: line 176, column 1" The error is occurring in a test method, which causes salesForce to error out on any new deployment b/c it runs validate against every class in the org. Really a bullshit reason to have to uninstall an otherwise great app :(

Agreed, this is completely unacceptable. Our users can install this App in production, not see any errors and effectively disable our deployment system!

Seems like it should work, but it's not doing anything for me

I installed this with the goal being to have all users in our org follow all other users in the org. Added everyone to the everyone follows list, and applied it. Refreshed the chatter list and nobody's has changed. Not sure what i'm doing wrong. have tried pretty much every option in the program and applying it doesnt have any impact.

I'm having the same issue. Only the Follow Lists appear to be working but none of the other functions are working. I add the Follow Manager Hierarchy and apply the Hierarchy rule to all and nothing happens.

Can you use app for Chatter Free accounts?

Our company uses Chatter Free accounts. Will this app work with Chatter Free accounts if installed?

Can't install this application

I need help, when I tried to install SmartFollow, I got this error message. (see below) Help!!! 1. Apex Classes(01p30000000Ougs) chatterfollowbatchcaller.testchatterFollowBatchCaller() System.Exception: Assertion Failed Class.chatterFollowBatchCaller.testchatterFollowBatchCaller: line 176, column 9 External entry point

Whatever you do DON'T ignore apex test failures in your production system. If you do, you won't be able to deploy any custom apex classes to production anymore. Crazy that SalesForce allow this to happen!! :-(

On the step3 of the installation process check the box "Ignore Apex test failures that may cause the installed application not to function properly." this should resolve the issue.

I get the same error and we use Enterprise edition. I was able to install it into my sandbox though.

I'm not able to reproduce this yet. Can you let me know what edition, etc., you are working with?

Great App...missing a few features, but definitely worth using

Incredibly easy to download and use. Would like to see the Lists feature allow for the creation of groups of people. For example, I would like to be able to set up an APAC group and have everyone in FS, Sales, Support, etc. automatically follow each other. I also agree with the comments as left by others (make it an Aloha App, etc.). Gave it 3 stars for Support simply because it was so easy to install that there was no need to contact support.

Great App! Wish it worked for Chatter-Free Users

Hi there, Great app! Very helpful in getting all users set up to follow management and other VIP Chatter users. One issue though......when you set up a rule to have all users follow a particular user. You are unable to have all users follow a user with a Chatter Free license. We wanted to have all users follow someone with a Chatter Free license and this App doesn't allow you to do that.

Great Idea! But need Groups too!

I've been BEGGING for forced-Follow from SFDC since we were on the Chatter Beta last spring! I couldn't believe it wasn't part of the product when it was released! Now I finally have it! Just one BIG piece missing otherwise this would be a five star app... We also need to force people to follow certain Groups and Records as well!

Found something else out that I would like to see changed... This should be an "Aloha" App so that the Tab the App adds to SFDC doesn't count against our tab limit. I have to uninstall this now because I'm at my Tab Limit and I must create a new tab for a new object.

Does NOT work with professional edition despite the specs.

Will not install on professional edition because it doesn't support APEX triggers.

You're right -- that shouldn't have been there. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Accidental spam bomb

I used this app to force everyone in my org to follow everyone else. Well, it worked, but I didn't realize it would cause Chatter to send email notifications out to everyone, so I accidentally spammed my entire company! Oops. Note to the developers: A note in the set up to TURN OFF email notifications in the org-wide Chatter settings first would probably be a good idea!!

Well if they could roll it up into one email that would be ideal. But trust me, my fellow coworkers did NOT appreciate getting 100+ emails in the middle of the day. Most of them also had no idea what Chatter was at the time, and don't do social networking in general, so they cried "Big Brother". *sigh*

Jenna Weiner

I personally wouldn't consider that as spam because it's a useful notification. But, the ability to repress email notifications would be handy.
