Not Intuitive at All
I've added Fields to both Task objects and their respective Page Layouts and the Fields still do not display on the Action Plan or Action Plan Template. This inability to intuitively edit the Page Layouts prevents our use of this App.
Great app, works as designed, helps automate mundane tasks..but
I installed this app into our Sandbox to test.. - The ability to "pre-assign" a task list and then assign it to the customer is great.. - it is also really helpful as it starts a "task workflow" on a customer and automatically moves you on to the next task The downside I see is that you have to "initialize the task process assignment" for each & every customer.. - I had to "manually" apply the "repeatable task group" to every customer.. would get tedious going forward.. - I needed a way to automatically assign the task list to a group of customers based on business logic.
Great app, would like to see it enhanced
This is a great app, but it would be nice to enhance the app, so that you can run an action plan on a list of clients in the report section. For example, I run a report for all my clients that like golf and live in Toronto. When that list populates in the report section, I can easily add an action plan to those clients in a few clicks. I would love to see this as an enhancement!
Dependent task query
We are an NGO using Action Plans to manage team tasks – and it is working fantastically. We really appreciate this product, it has made scheduling work, employees managing their workload, and periods of staff leave much easier. We have one concern – we use dependent tasks, and often the first task is delayed. This makes dependent tasks appear and already look overdue. When you set up an Action Plan template, you have the option of making one task dependent on another task. You can also specify how many days after the first task the second task should be due. However the second task always appears as due however many days after you ORIGINALLY specified the first task to be DUE, not when the first task is COMPLETED. So it doesn’t account for delays in the first task. To me, a “dependent” tasks means the second task can’t be done until the first is completed. So, if the first task is delayed and we move the due date of the first task back to accommodate, then when I tick off that first task, the second task appears as well overdue. Has anyone got a solution to this?
Not for Platform Licenses
It would be great to see a version of this app modified to not use the Campaigns object so it would work with Platform Licenses.
Customize Action Plan
Is it possible to use Action with customs objets? Thanks!
Unable to install it...
Have contacted labs about this, but I'm getting an error on installation. If it can be resolved, then I'll happily update the review. Problem: 1. Apex Classes(01pD0000000Roi0) actionplanstasktriggerutilitiestest.testTrigger2() System.DmlException: Delete failed. First exception on row 0 with id a06D000000QxLomIAF; first error: CANNOT_INSERT_UPDATE_ACTIVATE_ENTITY, aplan.ActionPlanTrigger: execution of BeforeDelete caused by: System.QueryException: Non-selective query against large object type (more than 100000 rows). Consider an indexed filter or contact salesforce.com about custom indexing. Even if a field is indexed a filter might still not be selective when: 1. The filter value includes null (for instance binding with a list that contains null) 2. Data skew exists whereby the number of matching rows is very large (for instance, filtering for a particular foreign key value that occurs many times) (aplan): [] (aplan) External entry point 2. Apex Classes(01pD0000000Rohs) actionplandetailcontroller.checkDeleteActionPlan() System.Exception: Assertion Failed: Action Plan was not deleted (aplan) External entry point
Lacks full task functionality
For starters I am a bit confused why it doesnt contain all the fields that the actual salesforce task function contains. For example... "category" in Action Plans maps to "type" in salesforce yet only pulls four items. It pulls phone call, email, meeting, misc. and I have been hunting through the app and dont see a way to change this! If there is a way to pull all of the custom selections that i have created in the "type" field into Action Plans... someone please let me know and i will revise my review of the app because besides these small errors it is a great free app!

Todd, when you release the app to your Salesforce client you can review released apps once they are unpackaged in your managed apps section. In there, you can review all app fields, formulas, functions, etc. however most you cant dive into detail on or change due to it being locked from editing. There are, however, fields you can change and after some digging about the above concerns, I was able to add in some additional fields to the "category" section by opening that field, and adding the additional drop down options that I was looking for. This app is great if your client doesnt have full workflow functionality (depends on your membership level) but work flows will be your best friend in the end. I am no longer working with SF as I accepted a promotion that moved me out of the role but I know we are working towards workflows now that our company upgraded our membership level. I hope this helps and didnt confuse you further!

Peter, What do you mean by "go into the app"? I am new to Salesforce and am not sure what you mean (or whether I want to do it).

A workflow rule might do the trick...

okay, another issue though... how can i have the system skip weekends entirely? Lets say the default is to push weekend tasks forward to mondays.. well if i have two tasks that need to be placed together one out 5 days and one out 3 days. The three day lands on a sunday and gets pushed to monday. The 5 day lands on a tuesday as it should. There is now a 1 day gap which places the 2 day follow on to task number two a day later than the 5 day task... I couldnt see any language in the coding (that i could edit) to allow me to skip weekends in every case as though they dont exist... can anyone help?

ok i decided waiting for a response could take too long so i kept hunting and struck gold! If anyone else encountered this issue: go into the app, find the field "category APT Task" and modify the picklist values there. It uses its own picklist values to insert into that field.
What happened to Case Action Plans????
The unmanaged version of Action Plans contains the buttons and components for Case Actions Plans. But, this managed version does not. What's the deal?
It is on the list, but I can't give you a date. V3 has many performance improvements but needs a couple of tweeks before we make it managed as well. You can follow the AppExchange Blog, @AppExchange or @ForceDotComLabs on Twitter, or the developer blog at http://blog.sforce.com to keep up to date.

Thanks! So, does this mean you'll have a new version of the managed package up soon which will contain the Case elements?
Looks interesting - especially when there is a defined sales method
App looks very interesting - just deployed and testing, but seems a really good way of setting automated tasks on Professional edition. For example, if I add a new lead to salesforce I can now (much easier) set the salesmen with a set of tasks (i.e. introduction, email info, then follow up) than before. Still needs to be tested and to get the Sales guys to buy in (which I imagine they will resist), but looks a nice app... AND FREE!
This is a major issue for us as well. It is a serious shortcoming that may require us to find a different solution. Is there a solution for this?
