Not an enterprise-ready app

There are limitations in the connector that render it not usable for our business. It is most definitely not an enterprise application. 1. It is a best practice to use an API only profile for any integration and not grant full access. However, this connector requires a System Administrator profile. You can get around this odd hard-coding in their connector by having the words 'System Administrator' in the profile you create for your integration user, but that is hardly a good practice. 2. It will fail if it doesn't have View All Data. This is a major security and privacy risk, and this, by itself, is enough reason for us to not allow the connector to be used. Yes, we could use a data transformation tool and and the smartsheet API to get around these limitations, but that is not really scalable and requires developers with a specific skill set. It also isn't scalable. If Smartsheet makes this truly an enterprise -level connector and provides what permissions are actually needed that don't violate data security and privacy, it could work, but it isn't there.

Accomplishes Objective

Allows for synching (uni-directional or bi-directional) to update records in Salesforce CRM and ServiceCloud. Conversely allows information from SF --> Smartsheet for easy views and customized dashboard, artifact creation.

This is a recent review -- hoping you can comment on if this works well in Lightning? and what things are included in this integration? Videos all show classic screens, and most reviews are older - so curious where things are today.

Great Tool, but be prepared for a lot of manual work!

We utilize many custom fields in SF.com and each field needs to be mapped. If you share that reality and are limited by the 5000 row minimum in Smartsheet, then you will be recreating the same workflow multiple times manually. There is no ability to clone the workflow. But once the work is done, the data flows and automatic notifications and update requests are done automatically.

Great Product, Poor Customer Service

The product is great and syncs well with Salesforce. It would have been nice to have a feature that clones the workflows that was created. Saves time for Admins. Also, I had the worst experience so far of not getting responding back to emails or phone support.

Salesforce Users/Tasks to Smartsheet Contacts/Task integration

I would be nice to have bi-directional salesforce/smartsheet integration, where lifecycle started in one application, can continue in another. For example, task created in smartsheet (with contact assignment) can be replicated into the salesforce as a task for specific user and managed there until completion (with replication of all statuses changes back to smartsheet).

I can't find this info on the Smartsheet website. Today is there bi-directional sync of Salesforce Users/Tasks and Smartsheet Contacts/Tasks? If yes, does it require any additional connectors?

The Data Integrator is good. But still no Chatter integration... isn't Smartsheet all about team collaboration?! Adding Chatter for Enterprise Social capability would bring the team collaboration to the next level, team member can make a change, then all other members in the group get the Chatter feed updates about the change... do you see how this goes?!

Cool but could be more integrated

I was hoping it would be more than just a click in Salesforce that took me to the Smartsheet page, but it's fine. At least it's still in one place. But better integration would be helpful if you guys are still working on it!

Tie Project with one or multiple Chatter groups Project Tasks updates via Chatter, Discussion on Projects Tasks in Chatter, Project Files/Artifacts stored in Files, updates and sharing via Files instead of separately in SmartSheet, Enterprise search into SmartSheet Projects/Tasks/Status/Artifacts so Force.com Search can be our single entry point for Enterprise search

I agree with Meredith. I have a need where we create work assignments and tasks for implementation of a client (as an example) in order to create a project plan. It would be great to integrate Salesforce data into Smartsheets in order to dynamically create an 'implementation' project plan that can be dynamic and updated accordingly.

Meredith, thank you for your feedback. In addition to single-sign on, today we enable linking to existing sheets and creating new sheets from within SF using one of four available sheet templates. Smartsheet is an excellent application, but the integration is pretty weak.

We really like Smartsheets. It's nice to be able to see a link to the sheet, but that's as far as it goes. There's no live connection about anything. It would be nice to have some form of authentication go through from SalesForce. If a person in SalesForce can see the link, they should get view access to the sheet. Now I have to add them separately or it tells them they can't see it. Otherwise, the link shouldn't show if they don't have access. So, Smartsheets -- a big thumbs up. The integration. It's good enough to get by, but no great shakes.

Smartsheet is a nice Application, but Support in not.

We've been users of Smartsheet and like the app, however, try to get a response from their support is like pulling teeth. If you're lucky you might get a response the same day. It's frustrating to be paying for an application and get stuck and find yourself wasting massive time and money waiting on a response. I just want to talk to a human and get my issues resolved immediately. Wish I could charge for the time I twiddle my thumbs.

Smartsheet has a customer support phone number. If you need a 5min response time, don't use email.

John, thank you for the additional information. I definitely want to make sure you get the right information in a timely manner. Our Support Manager already reached out to you directly. Looking at your case from June 17, I see that our Support rep responded to you with instructions on how to sort selected rows without sorting the column header. I just tested her instructions and confirmed that they work. Your first question arrived at 8:09am, and she responded at 11:30am. Your second question arrived at 2:05pm, and she responded at 2:35pm. There were no additional followups in that specific case. Both the Support Manager and I (my team is responsible for Smartsheet integrations, including Salesforce) would like to make sure that customer issues are addressed accurately and timely. You mentioned you are currently wrestling with another issue, but I don't see any other cases since June 17th. If there are any unresolved issues relating to the June 17th thread or any other, please let us know - we would like to help. Hi Alex, The last correspondence I received regarding a support issue was on June 17. Your support rep did not properly resolve my issue. I rephrased my question for here to better understand and have not received a response since then. This is not the first incident. Right now I'm trying to resolve an issue and wish I could call or live chat with a *knowledgable* person and get my question answered in 5 minutes instead of 4-hours or 6-days. We use other Salesforce Apps and get immediate resolution. Who has time to wait? Smartsheet is a great product, but the integration is not there yet

We currently have and use Smartsheet to control our projects. The Gantt chart is perfect. I installed the Smartsheet in my Sandbox expecting to have the same view inside each opportunity or a tab with all projects Gantt chart inside Salesforce, but actually it is just a bottom that you need to click twice until take you to a smartsheet webpage. Not worth to pay for that. I hope hear new changes in this integration for the Dreamforce 2014. Thanks all guys from Smartsheet to reply our e-mails and listen to my opinion.

Kai - our current integration implements SSO and allows users to link SF objects (several standard objects out of the box + any object with some work) to sheets, but not individual tasks. My whole group is adopting both Salesforce Service Cloud for CRM and Force.com for Enterprise Collaboration. We are evaluating Project Management Tools for various sub groups, one proposal is Smartsheet, however we would like to see integration with Chatter and Files, e.g. SSO (understand this already in place, right?) Association of Salesforce CRM objects to SmartSheet Tasks (understand integration is in place, however not sure which specific standard Salesforce objects are supported? custom objects?), Project Tasks updates via Chatter, Discussion on Projects Tasks in Chatter, Project Files/Artifacts stored in Files, updates and sharing via Files instead of separately in SmartSheet, Enterprise search into SmartSheet Projects/Tasks/Status/Artifacts so Force.com Search can be our single entry point for Enterprise search

I run a small publishing company and am the only full-time employee. I manage a lot of part-timers and subcontractors, as well as deal with 60 or so client teams. I needed a scheduling app that could handle a multi-part schedule with a central management point. This is perfect!
