Community Manager

This is a very useful tool for the Community Manager for foundational trends like member enrollment against each audience segment. This can help with personalization experiments that give maximum effectiveness.

Rough around the edges

Although this app offers a few valuable insights, the problems outweigh the benefits. Here are my biggest issues with it: 1) Vital search stats are buggy and there’s not a plan for a fix from Salesforce: https://success.salesforce.com/issues_view?id=a1p3A0000003enHQAQ 2) Reports and dashboards are unreliable. Example: Even though you can filter case deflection reports by quarters and fiscal years, this app only holds on to a few weeks of data before deleting it permanently. 3) I must manually copy and paste the data from this app and plug it into a personal Excel spreadsheet so I know it won't be deleted or altered by Salesforce.

No data in dashboards or reports

As I posted on the Success Community at https://success.salesforce.com/_ui/core/chatter/groups/GroupProfilePage?g=0F9300000001oDd&fId=0D53A000032yiwC, after I installed this package, all of the reports and dashboards show no data for a community site which has knowledge available for search and display to the public. This community site uses the Koa template and doesn't require a login to view knowledge.

We expect more from SalesForce

SalesForce is promising, even for Communities. It allows integrating anything of your organization. But the Communities Management Tools are less developed than GetSatisfaction was 5 years ago (important: we are ex. GetSatisfaction customers; we migrated to SF as a platform as we see the potential of 360degree integration). Come ON SalesForce Team, you can do much better here: Community Managers need tools to see which conversations are still unread / need attention. They are not only the ones without any comment. They need to know if the latest message was from someone internal or someone external. Custom fields on feeditems might help (needed!) together with triggers on feedcomment. I hope that this post can help you to do better. As always done, I am available to chat if needed.

Hello Fabrice, yes I provided a review here but the one we are using is the one with Chatter. Sorry, my mistake. The linked PDF is very well done and explains all things that are there. We had seen it too. But the issue remains: this App is thought as a reporting tool with some links to the community as seen from outside. It's not seen as an internal tool to manage the posts. It's seems that you built tools to built tools, with a perfect platform approach. But sometimes it's important also to cover specific use cases that are important for users, without asking them to reinvent the wheel. I do not know if Communities is in the core of SF priorities, but so far I can say that it does not seems so. We started using it 3/4 releases ago and it was still way too early for the product. There is not a proper ideas integration yet (in ex. Napili); Smart links required our engineers to spend 3 days to have them fixed to avoid the community re-open each time; the back browser button does not work; it's impossible to open multiple tabs (CTRL+CLICK). And the list goes on. Some of those things are minor, other are critical. But as we have in any case decided to stick to SF Communities as the product IS AMAZINGLY PROMISING, I will just bring a use case that is specifically in this scope, i.e. Comm. Mngmnt. USE CASE Our community manager wants to see the list of discussions that have not been checked by her. Not being checked means that they are published and that she was not the one writing the last feed comment. They are discussions in which there are answer that have not been supervised in some way. The ideal tool is an ajax based interface that updates in real time and allows answering from within it. As simple as that. As GetSatisfaction was doing years ago. In case SForce is not going to develop it, YES we can do it thanks to Lightning components. We might need to have custom fields on feedItem though + I do not see in any case why we should reinvent the wheel.

Hi Sebastiano - I'm the PM for Community Management and my team built the package. Have you tried to install the package "WITH chatter" (and not without)? It is the most comprehensive. Here's a doc that lists all the CRTs, Reports and Dashboards. https://appexchange.salesforce.com/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P3A00000Vsq0TUAR You may want to play with insights built on top of reports. We provide a set of pre-built insights for common use cases. We let moderators update existing insights or clone them to create new ones (e.g.: internal vs external contributors). You need to be inside the Community Management console. In Summer'17, we'll provide a deeper Google Analytics integration (sObject, user ID/Type, events for standard deflection flows) and a revamped console - SAFE HARBOR. Hope this helps!

Update: New version is much better

Thanks for the effort here and wanted to update my review to reflect that the new version is much more helpful and labeled better.

You need to wait for v2 of the package scheduled just after Winter/15 release.

Fabrice, I just tried installing this again in our sandbox which is now on Winter '15 and seems to be the same problems with no headers or footers. Is this expected?

This package is really targeted at Community Managers. I don't think you want to share adoption and engagement metrics with your customers. In general, you can share reports with external users (role-based licenses). External users get read-only access to reports. You can use public groups to share report folders to a subset of users.

Thanks Fabrice for your quick follow up.

Will this feature give us the availability for our external users to be able to see reports that we create and will they be able to be specific where only their client can see

Thanks for the feedback. The integration of the dashboards in the console put a few technical constraints on us that also had an impact on the UI. You should see a lot of improvements in the next version (Winter'15). We published an online doc that describes each dashboard and reports: http://help.salesforce.com/help/pdfs/en/salesforce_communities_managers_guide.pdf All trending reports run daily, except for licenses that run weekly. We also do not process historical data. You should see the first data point tomorrow. I know it's frustrating but in the long run it will give you great info on adoption and engagement. Let us know if there are other areas we could improve. I suggest you post your feedback on our Communities group so other members can benefit and engage: https://success.salesforce.com/_ui/core/chatter/groups/GroupProfilePage?g=0F9300000001og8
