Nonfunctional
Since there are no reviews, I'm not sure if this was ever functional, but it is not currently working. It looks like the component field that was meant to accept the User record Id ({!recordId}) is now read by Lightning as a Label field, so it's only accepting the format {!$Label.customLabelname}.
