Excellent product

The app just works! Blackthorn's been very stable, it's great to be spending time in raising money versus fixing errors and bugs, like we had been doing with our previous donation solution. They also enhanced their fraud controls to help us out, which has reduced our fraud significantly. You have access to all the objects used, and it is very flexible, can be customized to your needs using process builder which is great. Additionally, we're now recouping at least $500 per month with the use of PayLink to automatically send payment requests to customers with failed cards. It's helped us automate our processes wonderfully.

Stable - after almost 2 years our donation forms have never gone down

When you work in non-profit you know how important donations are, and how important it is to have a reliable and easy to use donation page. Our old donation page system would go down unpredictably and take hours to get up and running again, which meant angry donors and lost donations. Over the last roughly 2 years of using Blackthorn's donation360 we have never had our donation pages go down. This is an essential tool for any non-profit!

Great customer service!

Requires proficient to advance Salesforce knowledge, but their platform is great when integrating with Salesforce. It does take a while to plug things in but once functional and ready to go, the results have been satisfying. We process around $30K/year in online donations, so when Blackthorn began charging, they offered to work with our budget. As we hope to increase our online donation presence, I am sure the investment will be worth it. In addition to accessible instructions to solve issues and a quick customer service response rate, Ashley and Chris are great reps and have provided superb customer service.

Easy Implementation, Great support

Installation: The documentation is very clear on how to integrate the app with Stripe in simple steps. Support: We have had some issues and clarifications while connecting some of the end-points the support was very helpful and fast to reply to the questions. App: Great tracking tool for the payments, it hasn't been easier to integrate the payment system, track it from Salesforce, have all the receipts and contacts created automatically based on the payment.

Simple Instillation/Great Product

Probably the simplest installation of any major app that I have worked with on the App Exchange. You can build simple donation pages without any nonsense, and edit them on the fly.

Great platform, integrates well with Salesforce (but too expensive for small nonprofits)

I am a board member of an all-volunteer nonprofit. We just switched from a basic PayPal donation platform to Stripe and Blackthorn Donations because of its donation interface and its integration. Getting the Donations set up and customized took a fair amount of time and learning, but it was worth it. It integrates very well with our free Salesforce platform, and the customizable donation interface is great. It is lights years better than when we were using PayPal to process donations. So far, we have found that most donors elect to donate the transaction fee (1.25% for Donations + 2.2% for Stripe = 3.45%), an option which PayPal lacks. I was very disappointed to learn of Blackthorn's recent decision to start charging nonprofits a flat fee of $1,990 per month ($23,880 a year). That is almost twice the amount we receive annually from online donations. In exchange, they are eliminating the 1.25% transaction fee. My math says that only nonprofits with annual online donations totaling $2 million or more can afford to continue utilizing Donations. As an existing customer, we are grandfathered for a while and can keep using it as long as we can. I will be disappointed when we are forced to abandon Donations. I am hopeful that Blackthorn will re-introduce a transaction fee based pricing option so that small nonprofits can continue utilizing Donations. But I recognize that if Blackthorn was to do this, it would need to ask small nonprofits to pay for technical support, or hire a Salesforce/Donations technical consultant to help with any issues they run into.

Hi Alex- Thank you for your comment. It took us some time and missteps in determining how best to charge for the application. It was initially free with a per-transaction amount, then it had a large base fee instead as you referenced in your comment, but we've now settled on a pricing structure that balances a base fee with a per-transaction fee. The base fee helps us to cover ongoing support costs regardless of the number of transactions that an organization processes. We needed a structure that covered our support, while also providing a fair structure to nonprofits. We also can sign multi-year agreements to lock in pricing to help in mitigating any concerns that any customers may have. Hope this background and context is helpful! This was our experience as well. Unfortunately for us, we were not able to get our production instance installed before Blackthorn's extreme price increase. Donations is a great product, but it is now far too expensive for smaller non-profits. We are currently using DonorBox.org, which has a decent integration with Salesforce NPSP, and pretty responsive support. Their pricing is similar to what Blackthorn was charging before their model change. I recommend checking out DonorBox as an alternative

Easy to use, works great

Set this up for my non-profit org... super easy to set up, the end results looks great. The integration to Salesforce is also seamless making it even easier to manage donations.
