Excellent Standard Features

The Ironclad x Salesforce integration delivers on its promise of streamlining contract management within the CRM. Standard features such as automatic workflow initiation, status syncing between systems, and visibility of Ironclad contract data within Salesforce work smoothly out of the box. The integration makes it easy for sales and legal teams to stay aligned without having to leave Salesforce, which significantly improves efficiency and reduces manual updates. However, while the core functionality is impressive, the integration feels somewhat rigid when it comes to customizability. For organizations with complex approval paths, non-standard record types, or custom field mappings, setup requires additional configuration or workarounds. The integration could benefit from offering more admin-level flexibility — for example, allowing custom triggers, deeper field mapping options, or advanced conditional logic based on Salesforce fields. Overall, this integration is a strong choice for teams looking for a ready-to-use solution that covers most standard use cases. Power users and admins, however, may find themselves wishing for more control and extensibility to tailor the experience to their business needs.

Standard Features Excellent; Customizability Needed

Integration between standard Salesforce objects greatly increases workflow productivity and visibility. But in our case, we also need the ability to launch Ironclad workflows from custom Salesforce objects. This is doable within Salesforce and the record of the custom object is linked within Ironclad, but there is no instantiation within Salesforce that allows us to see the connection to the record via related lists which leads to cumbersome workarounds. A second improvement would be more flexibility in filtering for which records are included in tables where a contract may have multiple scenarios laid out using associated records of the same Salesforce object type. Solveable problems (which we would love to see incorporated), but the integration works well as a third-party out of the box app for most use cases

Strong integrations create a powerful CLM tool.

Having used Ironclad for two years as our primary Order Form generation tool, I've been impressed with how well it integrates with Salesforce. The basics are strong: every relevant field from Salesforce can instantly be pulled into our Ironclad CLM to generate an Order with up to the minute products & pricing, along with billing information, customer signer information, etc. The workflow itself is available via SFDC with one click access, and changes to our SFDC data can be reflected in Ironclad through a simple refresh action on the Ironclad workflow.

Evolving to Meet User Needs

As a long-term user, it's clear Ironclad listens to its customers. Like most SaaS, the early challenges such as integration bugs, reporting gaps, and a steep learning curve existed, and they have been tackled on a steady pace by the Ironclad via support resources and product updates. There is still lots of room for improvement, especially in areas like advanced AI, broad customization, and enhanced support. Ironclad's ongoing evolution gives me the confidence that issues will eventually addressed.

Almost Perfect

The integration with Salesforce is one of the best I have worked with for a 3rd party product. It allows for workflow creation, collaboration, and approvals all to happen seamlessly between systems. Our users can work in Salesforce or Ironclad interchangeably. The downfalls of the integration come post-approval of the document, where the document can only be tagged or routed for signature in the Ironclad app, unless the document is set up perfectly to be auto-sent for signature. In our case, our contracts are complex and we almost always require a user to send the document for signature. Additionally, the archival phase of the process is not able to be facilitated through Salesforce, unless again the document is relatively touch-free and can be auto-archived. Due to the time this integration saves our users I give it a 4/5, but I really would like to see expansion on the integration to cover all phases of the Ironclad workflow lifecycle.

Nice workflow visibility, but some major blockers

The ability to generate an Ironclad request directly out of the Salesforce Opportunity, and then view the status of that request on that same Opportunity has helped us break down some silos between out Go To Market and Legal teams. The biggest challenge is at the conclusion of our contracting process. Ingesting the finalized contract back into Ironclad as our contract repository has almost doubled the time for us to Close Won an Opportunity. The AI used to read the documents in Ironclad is hit or miss, meaning we have to manually review every field in the metadata and either confirm or correct in Ironclad so that the data is accurate. The agonizing part is that all of that data is already correctly captured in Salesforce, but when we have reached out to Ironclad about establishing an API to automatically pull the data over from the connected Salesforce Opportunity, we have been told that "no such connection exists," and that if we really want it, it would be up to us to build it at our own cost.

Intuitive and user friendly

I enjoy how intuitive it is to review, manage and edit contract online using Ironclad. It makes collaboration with my peers and contract tracking changes seamless. The automated features reduce significantly the manual or offline tasks needed from me and my team.

A Well Designed Application offering Seamless integration with room for improvement

The setup and configuration was simple. The UI elements of the app are very intuitive especially the expression of the WF status via the widgets which makes usability easy because the end user can find all the information they need within Salesforce.com. We have been using Ironclad since 2024 and there have been a lot of improvements since then especially the recently added support for Rich Text Fields. As an end user from the technical point of view, I would love to see a few enhancements which would greatly improve the overall experience and help us do away with some custom integrations we built out using Workato. 1. Please add the population of the IC number generated for every WF in Ironclad back to the WF record in Salesforce. 2. When we launch a WF from within Salesforce and submit the request, a screen comes up momentarily informing us that the record creation is in progress. It would be very helpful to be able to Customize the message which shows up on the screen as well as add a Spinner visually indicating that the request is in process. 3. In your current implementation, the Signature completion information does not flow back to the WF record as the Signatures get updated; they are all updated once the WF has been completed. You should look into ways to have the Signature information updated on the WF as they get updated on the WF in Ironclad. 4. There should be some provision to trigger the signal to Pause an Active WF or Resume a Paused workflow from within the managed package in SFDC. This would very helpful in managing changes needed to product and pricing which arise during the negotiations. Today we are managing this using a few recipes in Workato to make the process look seamless for the end user.

Good integration - some minor niggles

The integration works well, straightforward to configure field mappings etc although it would be nice if you could do bi-directional relationship fields as well. There were some issues we noticed with ad-hoc approvals on the salesforce side, think we are still waiting for that to be fixed. Some quirks on timing of the workflow data syncing back to salesforce have caused some minor issues with record triggered Flows. The workflow type field on the ironclad workflow object is a “long text area” which is unnessicary and unhelpful (owing to poor compatibility within salesforce).

Ironclad is a Game Changer

As a Salesforce / CPQ admin I've worked with CPQ quote templates, Docusign CLM, and Conga and let me tell you, Ironclad has them all beat by MILES. The Salesforce integration is so smooth. Workflows (in progress agreements) sync to their own related list and are easily launched from ANY object in Salesforce. When the workflow completes, the completed document and any metadata integrate to the Ironclad Contracts object so you can easily hone in on completed documents. Let's say you want to start the contracting process on Opportunities but want all completed agreements to live on both the Opp and Account. Well, with Ironclad that's easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. The field mapping is intuitive, easy, and flexible. It allows you to traverse levels as well so if you need to pull in a specialized field on your Product object through the Opportunity Product through the Opportunity, that's EASY and doesn't require crazy formula fields to make it work. There are some gotchas. I think some of the error handling could be better and/or more clear on what field specifically is causing an error as sometimes that's a bit obscure. Getting the right settings so Ironclad are locked for users but not locked for admins can be tricky as well. That said, our Sellers adopted the platform easily - which says a lot - and have nothing but positive things to say. Further, with Conga we had about 5 core templates with the rest being built manually due to the complexity of setting up Conga and all of the nuance within our agreements. We now have over 50 templates setup in Ironclad and they were almost all super easy to setup. Lastly, their implementation process leaves no stone unturned and they make sure you are setup for self-success. If you're shopping CLM platforms and Ironclad isn't at the top of your list, you're making a mistake. It's that good.
