The app worked correctly with a single search field.ld

I would like to select a couple of search fields — is that possible? Can I change the order of fields in the list of available search fields? Also, how can I select multiple fields that are not positioned next to each other in the list?

Broken App not working

We tried using this app and its not wokring as expected. I have articles in published status but when tried to replace text it says Emplty List and some times throws null pointer exception.

It was good but I think it's broken

I used this recently with no problem and it was just what I needed but now it will only search for 31 articles, and not my whole knowledgebase. I have no idea what the issue is, and our Salesforce expert is completely stumped after troubleshooting, and unsure if there is a conflict between the recent Salesforce updates that went in, or if it's a bug with the app.

Find broken links

Hi, I know there’s a way to find broken links in the HTML code with this but I can’t find it, can anyone share with me? I tried finding online but couldn’t

Great app - having issue with field length increase

The guide doc states that the field length for the fields Search String and Replacement String (on KB Global Search and Replace and KB Global Search History objects) have length 32,768, and that they should be updated to the maximum size allowed for a rich text field in the org. But when I try to update the length of those fields the value is always reverted to 32,768. Do you have any idea why I can't increase the length to match the fields for my org?

Hi Maria, Since this is a Managed package it may not be possible to change the attribute that you mentioned. There might be a way by talking to support and creating a ticket (according to this document: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000386646&type=1)

Great app - having issues with permissions

This is a great app with a good UI. Users were able to understand the functionality and pick it up pretty quickly. I have followed the installation instructions but we are still facing some permission issues. The app updates only 2 articles at a time and displays the following error: "You can't perform this action. Be sure the action is valid for the current state of the article, and that you have permission to perform it." Any ideas? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Update to 5 stars - incredible support by the team.

Hi Federico, Thank you for the provisioned information. We tried different possible scenarios but we are still unable to reproduce your issue. Since it's quite obvious that we have a different setup on our org we would like to ask you if it's possible for you to grant us login access to you environment in order to troubleshoot this problem in a proper way. If you're ok with that you can send us the credentials through a private message right here.

Thanks, Bruno. -What type of field is the custom field called “Content”? A/ Rich Text Area(32768) -The text or word you are trying to replace is located only in translated articles? A/ No, in the main language as well - English -Are you performing this action with a Sys Admin or with a user with different profile? A/ Have tried with both Sys Admin profile and a different profile. -What version of the tool do yo have installed? Just in case, the latest one is 1.9 A/ We have 1.9 installed. Hi Federico, We tried to reproduce your issue but the replacement is working fine on our side. Could you please answer some additional questions in order to try to replicate the problem affecting your org? -What type of field is the custom field called “Content”? -The text or word you are trying to replace is located only in translated articles? -Are you performing this action with a Sys Admin or with a user with different profile? -What version of the tool do yo have installed? Just in case, the latest one is 1.9

Hi Carolina, Thanks again for the follow-up. It seems it's not the translation issue, but something different. We're running the query as follows: Case Sensitive (True), Internal articles only (but have also run it for all channels), Published status, we're selecting a record type, a custom field called "Content" for the search field, and English language. If we run a search only, the search returns a number of articles, i.e. 10. If I run the same operation but as a "replace" then we get the error message and only 1 article gets updated. If I keep running the same operation, the subsequent run will only pick up 9 articles and replace 1, the next one 8 and so on, until all articles have been replaced, but only 1 at the time. This tells me that all of them can be replaced, published as new version, but it's only doing it 1 at the time.

Hi Federico, we tried to reproduce your issue without success. The component is working correctly when searching and replacing text from translated articles. Could you give us more details about the steps you’re going through as well as the options of the component that you’re selecting when trying to do the replacement? Thanks!

Thank you Carolina! This was super helpful. Going through the article, it seems we may be running into issues due to the "Primary Version" lookup. Have you heard of other Orgs having issues with translated versions? Thanks again!

Hi Federico, The app comes with a Permission Set that grants access to the objects provided in the package. However, you should also make sure that the user doing the replacement is a Knowledge User that has the correct Knowledge Management permissions, as well as CRUD permissions on the Knowledge object. The error could also be happening because the article is locked by an Article Approval Process. Does your org have an active Approval Process for Knowledge? If not, it might be because of any of the reasons mentioned in the following article: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000382317&type=1

I want to give this app a 5 star review but...

Email alert from checkbox Receive email confirmation is not working from either the Search or Replace buttons. I can't add space at the end of the replace word. Ex. Search string: Test <(with space at the end of the word) Replacement: Tests <(with space at the end of the word) Sample Description: Test with jerico After replacement: Testswith jerico

Hi Jerico, Sorry for the late response. As per how the component was built is not possible to update the "From" address of the email alert. By default, the email is sent from the person who executed the search/replace action.

Hi Bruno, How can we update the From address of the email alert?

04/26/2023

Hi Bruno, As for Email Confirmation may we know who will be sending the email? We checked the email logs and we see that the app is using the current user to send the email to current user email.

Hi Jerico, The fix for the email notification has been uploaded and is present on the latest version of the tool. Please install version 1.9. In case you already have version 1.9 installed please check Email deliverability on your Org and confirm is set to “All Email”. If not you won’t receive the notifications. Regarding adding a space at the end of the replaced word…that won’t be necessary. You can replace the word “Test” with “Tests” without adding the space at the end and the replacement will display “Tests with jerico”.

Great Tool for Finding and Replacing

This tool works great. Being able to search and replace is a huge time saver. There is room for some improvements though. There is an email confirmation for when a job is processed, but it only works on replace. It would be great if we could get an email alert when only searching too. Another issue I had is that I haven't been able to figure out how to search for fields which contain no value. Is this possible?

Hi Byron, Thanks for your review! Unfortunately, the tool is not designed to search for null fields. Regarding the email confirmation for the Search-Only functionality, we found out this is a current bug the application has. We’ll be fixing it and delivering a new version soon.

Awesome!

I've never been impressed with the tools I used in AppExchange, but this one.. this one put a smile to my face as I saw the replacement string happen! You guys saved us a lot of work on replacing text in our articles from hours to minutes! Our team is so happy with this. Thank you!

I want to give this app a 5 star review but...

...the provided documentation does not clearly explain how to simply update the "Visible to xxxxx" checkboxes on article records. I used the Search Only button and searched for one specific article using the Search String and it found the record. I then turned on the "Change Article Visibility" toggle, set the checkbox field I wanted to update on the one article record I searched for, clicked on the Replace button and the app is stuck on "Replace in Progress" and has not moved to "Replace Completed." A little frustrated.

Hi Thomas, we replicated your situation as described, and the tool is not presenting any issues in changing article visibility. Our package comes with a permission set called ‘Search & Replace User Permissions’, have you assigned it to your user? Does your user have permission to manage Knowledge articles? You could also go to Setup and search ‘Apex Jobs’ in the quick find box to check if there were any failures in the batch process initialized from the tool. Please bear in mind that if you leave the ‘Replacement String’ input field blank, the tool will delete your search term from the article. If you just want to change the visibility, you should input the same search string inside the ‘Replacement String’ field and change visibility to another of the available channels.

We have the same issue. We don't want to update any content, just mass re-publish with different visibility. Seems impossible to do a Replace without it replacing search string with replacement string. If Replacement is left blank, it deletes the search string. I've tried using regex searching to find literally nothing on a field I know is blank on all our articles but it doesn't find matches, so not sure how their regex search is working. I've tried: ^$ ^(?![\s\S]) But neither matches
