Inventory Manager tab seems not to appear
Hi, we are using the inventory manager and works good. Today I logged into Salesforce and suddenly we cannot see any items in the Inventory manager tab ( the items just do not appear). I clicked on Refresh Data - nothing. What could be the reason? Best, Todor
Hi, our team is also having similar issue. I'm trying to check if this app is a good solution for us so just working through a POC. Everything is good so far but noticed that when an inventory item is created by a different user (standard user profile with salesforce license), that item is not visible on the Inventory Manager for the other user. The 'Show Items in Locations without User' is already enabled but still not showing. Has anyone found a solution yet? Cheers
Hi, thanks. I’m also experiencing the same issue. I’ve already enabled the custom metadata and assigned the required permissions. I installed the app about a week ago and would like to understand how I can configure it so that all Standard Users are able to view and edit Items within the Inventory Management app
Works nicely, but we need support
Hi, we like the app and want to use it but are having issues with some of our users seeing the full Inventory Manager tab. Users can see the top bar where it says "Create New Item" and "Refresh Data" but they cannot see the list of items with the plus/minus button features. I have gone through all of the material to set this app up and contacted Salesforce H&T but I've not been able to find a resolution. I've tried to grant our users the permission set but I cannot do that as they are Platform licence holders. Is there a way I can get them access to the Inventory Manager tab? Thank you.
All the labs apps are as-is. While we try our best, these are not supported officially. The code for this particular app is at https://github.com/SalesforceLabs/IssueBox. I will have to find some time to reproduce and fix the issue (as I created this app) but I am not sure when/if I'd be able to. This was never tested with platform license so it maybe that issue. If it works for other licenses but not platform then that must be the reason. Or it maybe permission issue; hard to say without investigating.
Hi Jaswinder, It is still happening. The two users I'd like to use the App are Platform licences and the permission set only seems to work with Enterprise licences. I appreciate that you're not in support - do you know who I could escalate or talk to about this? Thank you, Andrew
Great App
Overall, I'm satisfied with this App. Many thanks for sharing it! One thing which I'd like to add is the possibility to filter records by location and category in the main list. Is it possible to somehow add filtering option?
Simple and Useful
I think overall this is a simple and useful tool. My one question is if you could enable the Count of an item to include 2 decimals so when tracking categories, such as something of volume, they can be tracked at the .5 or .25. Similarly if there would be an option to toggle or display the Quantity as a percentage?
I can look into this in the future. But there are no plans to change how it works for now. It was designed for simple inventory. However, the code for this app is at https://github.com/SalesforceLabs/InventoryManagerNP. You can make the changes as needed and use that. Although, using your code means you will loose the ability for any future updates to this app (if any)
Help with Professional Edition
We have Salesforce Professional. I noticed that this only works in Enterprise and above. Will it work with Professional with lesser features and functionality?
@diane I haven't tested this package with Professional Edition hence I have marked it for Enterprise Edition. This package has been through Security Review. It doesn't make any API calls. Because it only uses LWCs and APex, it should work. But you will need to test it. If it works then ALL features should be available as-is
Way to sort "Inventory Manager" page?
Just getting started with this app and it seems great, thank you for writing it!! This app will really help our furniture ministry (we give furniture to those coming out of homelessness and motels as they move into apartments) and need something to manage our inventory in the warehouse.
Update to field labels required
Hi Jaswinder, Following on from Sheila's comment, can I ask that we remove Spanish from the field label and translate them instead? Thanks Chris
Cannot get the Inventory Manager App to work for team.
The inventory manager portion of the app is not working for my team - I contacted Salesforce and after a couple of weeks of working through some issues they also could not get it working for non-admins. They told me to contact the Inventory Management Support Team but it says this app does not give a support option.
@Stephanie Trevino I tested this and it seems that permissions maybe the issue. Please make sure that the user has correct permissions to the following objects (and those minimum permissions) - Item (Read,Edit: as count needs to be updated) - Item Action (Read,Write: If you turn Item action on to track all actions) - Location (Read:To read location) - SubType: Read You can give more permissions as needed. Let me know if that helps
@stephanie Can you please share the repro steps for me to test? Can you also share debug log so I can what is going on? Please log this as an issue at https://github.com/SalesforceLabs/InventoryManagerNP/issues I will take a look (Yes, it's not officially supported but I try to help where I can)
Unable to get item tracker working in sandbox but sorted and working well in production
This looks like it would be what we need if I can get it working. I get an error page on the Item Management when trying to create an item. I would also like to remove the Spanish field descriptions as this will confuse my UK users. Developer sorted out initial problem very promptly and was very helpful. Have now installed this in production without incident and working well.
Hi, 1) I will need more details on the error. Can you share error, screenshot and (hopefully) Apex Debug log? You can create a new issue at https://github.com/SalesforceLabs/InventoryManagerNP/issues and add all those details there. Please make sure to remove any personal data. 2) Unfortunately, you may not be able to change field labels as this is a managed package. We can look into removing those in the future and just use standard salesforce translation.
Overall effective tool to manage inventory
I found this to be a generally effective application to manage a small organization's inventory. It was fairly easy to update inventory on the Inventory Manager tab. My one major complaint is that it seems that the inventory items that appear on the Inventory Manager tab are visible only to the single user who can be assigned to a location. That's probably great for larger organizations, but it creates a burden for smaller orgs who have two people managing the entire inventory. It would be fantastic if items that had no assigned user would appear on ALL users' inventory manager tabs. It might also be helpful if the bulk update number field didn't need to lose focus for the add/remove buttons to appear, but that's a minor issue.
Hi, I have made a change and submitted a new version today. You can install latest version from AppEx. To see the change, - Go to Setup -> Custom Metadata Type - Click "Manage Records" for "Inventory Manager" - Click "Edit" for "Show Items in Locations without User" - Select "isEnabled" - Click Save This will show ALL items where a Location has NOT been assigned to a user to everyone. This is off by default so as not to impact other users.
Never mind. I find the answer to my own question. lol. But for the benefit of others who will stumbled upon this similar issue, on the documentation it says "All locations must have an assigned user. However, this change will make so that any items assigned to an un-assigned location will show up for ALL users. This can be used to show same items to multiple users as long as location has no assigned user Click "Edit" on "Show Items in Locations without User" Enable/Disable "isEnabled" This will show items from locations assigned to current user as well as items from ALL location which has no assigned users This can be used to show same items to multiple users as long as location has no assigned user" So I just un-assigned the locations that the items were linked and it showed up to everyone. Hope that helps!
