Great alternative to the API for creating custom Content Types
This tool is really great and makes it a lot easier to create content types and not have to bother one of our developers. One issue we have found though is that the Title field is a mandatory field when creating a new content type with this app, by it seems that Salesforce is already generating that field when the content type is created, so we now have two Title fields that a user must fill out. I would suggest updating the code to remove the NAMEFIELD and rely on native SF functionality. One desire would be to allow reordering the fields. We have had cases where our users request a new field that we are leveraging in our LWCs and we are unable to reorder the fields to make them flow better.
Unable to use Tags with Custom Content Types
When we first started using CMS Content Type Manager to create custom content types, the Tag option for the custom content types was available. We were able to use Taxonomy Tags to tag content for use in Digital Experiences Dynamic Collections. The Tag option has now completely disappeared so we are unable to use Tags with custom content types created with CMS Content Type Manager. Salesforce Support asked that we write a review in hopes that Salesforce Labs addresses the issue as the Tags option for Standard Content Types works.
That's a CMS product bug, unrelated with this app. Here's the published Known Issue: https://help.salesforce.com/s/issue?id=a02Ka00000kTyYoIAK You can ask the support team to search for the bug on our internal systems and they'll be able to provide you with possible workarounds and resolution status/timelines
Easy to install and use
This app was easy to install and creating new content types is as simple as it gets.
User access
Hi, I have installed in sandbox and provided full access for different profiles but still users not able to access workspaces, CMS Content Types and digital experience builder. I have created custom permission set to provide access for workspaces and digital experience builder (they can access it by using custom one ) - Why we need to do this ? Don't we have inbuilt access to users. CMS Content Types - users are still unable to create it after assigning the package permission set Do we need to do any other changes to the permission set / create permission set to provide access ? Please assist us on this. Thanks, Divya
Hey Divyalatha; access to workspaces and digital experience builder is unrelated with this specific app. Please follow the official publicly available CMS documentation in order to give users access to those features, and double check if they have the necessary licenses and permissions https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.community_managed_content_overview.htm&type=5 Access to CMS Content Types, which is what this app is all about, requires Manage All Data permissions., as described on the setup quip. This will enable several other permissions so please consider carefully who you will assign it to. After providing access to that permission, users should be able to interact with the app to view and create content types
Error when publishing translated content
It was very nice to discover the app: easy to work with except when I want to publish translated content, I get an error.
Access from current ip address is not allowed for certain profile
I installed it under system admin profile and another one, everything loads fine for sys admin user, but when logging in as a user under the other profile it shows "access from current ip address is not allowed for certain profile" And the document link at the bottom of the overview page doesn't seem to be working. Would like to get some help to proceed but not sure how, thanks.
Hey Hong; the documentation link is https://sfdc.co/CMSContentTypeDocs I just tested and it should be working normally From the error you shared, I suspect the user has some kind of IP restriction for accessing the API (behind the scenes this solution makes a callout to Salesforce's API on behalf of the user, in order to be able to interact with cms custom types). Try removing these restrictions and it should work
Publish button doesn't work and if you add image upload it wipes out the rich text field
This really stinks because Salesforce even recommends this managed solution for content types. The concept is great but it doesn't perform. No matter what browser I use the publish button, save draft etc will not work even though if I touch it with my cursor and click it does actually publish, but then wipes out my rich text description if I add an image. Thankfully this was only installed in my dev account as this would have also impacted other teams using different content types that are native to salesforce.
I would be happy to help you troubleshoot this, it's more than that though it actually wipes out the description as soon as you add your image node so it is something that is associated with the image/upload functionality. This concept is amazing so I hope the development still moves forward.
Hey Meilena, sorry to hear that. Some people have been reporting the same issue for a while now. I've tried to replicate it countless times without success. From the evidence users sent me, seems like there's a transparent modal on top of the screen, blocking the buttons. The workaround I suggest is to use TAB until you reach the button, and then hit ENTER. Definitely not ideal, but it's what we got for now until we can pinpoint the exact cause to be able to fix it. All in all, if you still don't want to use this solution that's completely understandable. You always have the choice of using the Metadata API directly, which is the official supported way.
i cannot click publish button after entering content
I created custom fields and i am filling that fields there is no any problem so far but sometimes after filling fields i cannot click the "Publish" button on the right top corner. I think, there is a CSS bug in there. How can it fix?

Can't see content types
I installed and can't see content types. I'm getting the following error when starting the app Session expired or invalid
Not able to use due to a glitch
I used the CMS Content Types add-on to create a Document Detail content type for Salesforce Digital Experience. In this content type I am able to add an image, however after I add the image the buttons all stop working (I can place my cursor on them, but they don't highlight and I can't click on them). I have tried this on two different computers (1 with Windows 10 and the other with Windows 11), and using Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers. I've also experienced this after logging in as one of the other System Admins for our org. Salesforce support was able to recreate the issue, but being a Salesforce Labs app support was not able to provide further assistance. At the direction of Salesforce support, adding a review here in the off chance that one of the developers notices. I did have another System Admin try it out on their local machines and everything worked great for them.

The issue you are describing isn't necessarily related to the app, as I do not have the app installed and have experienced the same issue when trying to create a content type using News, if an image is added all buttons to save draft or publish are disabled, but work if no image is attached. This is using Chrome on latest Browser version.
Hi Sean, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. About the bug you mentioned: since there were different results depending on where it was done, I would assume it's not related to this solution but most likely by the browser/machine you used. To investigate further on that idea, I recommend asking Salesforce Support to recreate this issue not using this solution, but the Tooling API directly instead. Using the Tooling API is the official supported way (and it's what this solution uses behind the scenes), which means they should be able to help in case the issue can be recreated
Hi Kayne, thanks for the feedback and suggestion. I'll take into consideration the reordering of the fields. About the duplicate Title field, it's a requirement on the API to have a field of type NAMEFIELD for a custom type so there's no way around it. The recommendation is to, instead of naming it "Title", repurpose it for something else when using Custom Types to create content for Enhanced Workspaces. You could also create the new Enhanced Custom Types (https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.api_meta.meta/api_meta/meta_contenttypebundle.htm) through the Metadata API, which is specifically meant for Enhanced Workspaces. There's just no UI for it yet.
