Our project with HiFi Consulting Group to build a "Bulk Email Tool" started with several requirements: - Flexible specification of up to a few thousand email recipients, - Integration with our customized letter templates, - Clean interface for trimming the set of gathered recipients, launching the emails, and monitoring the results, - Built-in monitoring of Salesforce limits on outgoing emails, to avoid errors and ensure that all emails eventually go out. HiFi's solution uses the Salesforce Reports API invoked from a Lightning Web Component interface, together with scheduled apex code to monitor email limits over the ensuing hours/days. HiFi's Melissa Hansen worked closely on the design with our grants operations officer, and went over the resulting code with our information management director as part of his professional development. We are thrilled with her solution, and the new uses we keep finding for it. Indeed, we see the Bulk Email Tool as a model for how to provide semi-automated support for complex and laborious work processes going forward.

In 2020, our technology team completed an overhaul of an existing internal application that serves a major business unit. The project included architectural changes and enhancements to the application's functionality to better align with how the business currently operates. The challenge was to increase our users' ability to engage with their volunteers (events, outreach attempts, etc.) and increase visibility into our volunteer base's levels of engagement. HiFi Consulting was a vital partner during the project and greatly contributed to the project's success in various ways. HiFi added value by providing visual design input and wireframes, assisting with data model design and construction, partnering with our internal development staff on producing custom code, and automating several business rules that were inputs into KPI's and metrics consumed by our business users. In addition, HiFi brought their non-profit domain knowledge and experience to bear during our implementation.
