How to track custom fields on user object
When creating a custom meta data field I get an error that user fields name cannot have two consecutive underscores. What should I be putting in that field for custom user fields
Works well but has some issues
Works well for tracking the user field history, which is very helpful in compliance and audit requirements. However, profile changes are shown as profile IDs instead of profile names. This is a big inconvenience. Hope this gets fixed soon.
Works well but with some issues
This app could potentially replace something I created custom with Flow and seems to work fine to solve the mixed DML issue I was facing without creating custom fields to track old values. However, there are a couple of things I noticed while doing some limited testing that could be improved: 1. Date field old values have two 0's added to the end (ex. 2023-01-08 00) 2. Date field new values show time and look strange when set to null even though they are not date/time (ex. 2023-01-08 00:00:00 and 00:00:null) 3. Date/Time old values don't show the minutes (ex. 5PM today is "2023-01-08 17" 4. Date/Time new values don't seem to make any sense at all (ex. "1/11/2023 9:00 AM" shows up as "06:00:2023-01-11 15:00:00") 3. The UserRoleId field use case does not work when setting a User's role to "<None Specified>" or setting a User's role to something from "<None Specified>". No User History records are created in both scenarios 5. The plural label for the User History custom object is usertrackings, which displays when you add the related list to the User Profile page. I would suggest the plural label also be "User History" 6. The custom object is not available for reports upon installation. You have to create a custom report type for it. It should be enabled during package install or included in the documentation 7. The fields available on the User History object that indicate date and changed by are just CreatedDate and CreatedBy. I think those values should be tracked in custom fields like "Changed Date/Time" (date/time type) and "Changed By" (user lookup) to make it easier to understand in reports 8. User lookups like ManagerId just show a user Id rather than the Full Name of the user. This seems to work for UserRoleId 9. Currency fields show in New and Old values as doubles without any currency indicator Other than those issues, it works pretty well. I pro
Simple idea , big business impact
Great app to use for tracking use history. I was able to install it and create custom meta data records for tracking user fields. After adding the visualforce page to the user layout, it clearly showed the field updates. Helped my organization compliance team to track down user field history changes.
Very Helpful for my org to track user history
App is simple to implement and helps in tracking who changed userrole on my user object.
