Custom Buttons and Activity Type Reports

I need to have custom buttons built to simplify the process of marking activity types for multiple contacts at once, such as "log a call" and "left a message". I will also need a custom activity report set up so that I can pull reports once a week to set bench marks for the # of calls logged, # of emails sent and # of messages left.
